Colors for Hue App Reviews

Works as Described!

The App detected my base station instantly and Im not experiencing any problems at all. The *only* thing keeping me from giving the App 5 stars is the lack of its ability to (or if it does have the ability to, a lack of ease to use the feature) have a light or light group turn on or off at a certain time— I like being able to set the lights to turn on when I need to wake up in the morning or to turn on just before I get home after work so that I dont return to a dark house.

Crashes

Installed and reinstalled app …. it is non-functional and crashes on load.

Finally a native desktop app!!!!

So far so good.. it does simple things like colors and brightness. Honestly I cant complain. Cant wait to see what else this app will do in the future!! I have 10 lights at the moment. And will most likley be going up to 15. Works great with 10! =) - Updated New grouping optoin is the BEST!!!!!! The interface is intuitive and easy to manipulate. Look forward to seeing updated versions of this software. Even would pay for it if it started to cost a few dollars.

Works perfecly.

A wonderful companion to the official iOS app.

Works perfect

Installed, connected to the Hue hub. Works perfect.

worked well initially

Installed alright and connected easily to the hub at first. After rebooting my computer I have not been able to reconnect to the hub at all. I have attempted reinstalling the App several times and cannot find the preference file to delete it and attempt to add my hub as a new one. The features of the App were exactly what I was looking for but I hope they put out an update soon to fix this issue.

Great but never updates status of lights

Not sure what is wrong here, but once you run the application, the only way to get status of where your lights are is to close and reopen the application. I dont understand that one.

Broken with latest Bridge firmware

App seems to be broken since i updated the Hue bridge to the latest firmware, it reufses to connect. COntacted app support, no response whatsoever. :(. Would be 5 stars, if it were working.

very bad

it never works, never starts… it says status "disconnected" and there is a button next to it that says "disconnect"?… does that make sense to you? they have long way to go before this becomes a normal app

Not working

Doesnt connect to my bridge. Not even when I manually enter the local IP of it. Last message from developers twitter was posted on March 17, now being June 25. Verdict: dead on arrival.

Works Great

Connected instantly. Does what it says it does. Great app. A timer would be a nice future feature.

best compared to all else

it leaves a lot more for the asking (better UI options, changing the colors of bulbs individually while they remain in a group for dimming purposes, etc). that said it is easily the best mac app on the market for controlling hue bulbs. given the progress so far i have no doubt the team will read these and adjust accordingly. honestly there is a lot in THIS app that i wish philips would borrow ideas from in their app. theyd be well advised to just buy this company as having your 60$ bulbs controllable ONLY by phone is sort of a ridiculous proposition in an age where even my toilet wants its own connection to the router.

DONT BUY THIS APP DOE

PLEASE DONT BUY THIS APP IT DOES NOT WORK JUST SETS IN BACK GROUND AND DOES NOTHING

An example of a well-designed app

A beautiful, minimal design: does what it needs to, and nothing more. Arbitrary grouping and sorting of lights and both a full color palette picker as well as a color temperature picker are great!

Great app, but misses a few central features

The inability to remember scenes really renders the brightness and color controls way less useful than they should be

decent but needs quite a bit of work still

1) grouped lights can never be individually controlled…. 2) "slow dim" is more like… "watching grass grow for 30 seconds then turn out the light completely" -- its 100% not effective when I tested you barely can tell the lights dim the tiny bit they do before completely being turned out 3) the context menu controls are clunky at best… if you are one that is used to being able to hold the mouse down when you open a menu… you will completely ruin your settings because any control that has a slider in it will immediately follow the mouse even though they were NOT the controls clicked on… 4) the color selectors do not really match the colors even remotely close… about the first half of the color graph is basically white… any chance of seeing a color different on the bulb requires ~60% or so down the graph even for the darker colors. 5) add support for configuring your bulbs in the app preferences window… or fix how overly sensitive the context menu is

Basic & good

I like this app a lot. It works well. It is simple and yet all you need when on your MacBook Pro to control your Hue lighting. I highly recommend.

WOW! Used to work...

Loved it… Until it stopped working - wont connect no matter what!

Just stopped working...

It was working fine, then just stopped. Won’t connect to hub. Have deleted, reinstalled, etc. Nothing

Love it but can we have multiple groups, please?

I feel very limited by the fact that each bulb can only be in one group. I would really like to have multiple group and be able to mix and match bulbs in many groups. Also, it would be really cool if we could get access to some of the built-in effects like “color loop”! Thanks!
